Understanding the University's Role in American Culture and Society

President of Two Universities: David Pierpont Gardner served from 1973 to 1983 as the president of the University of Utah, where he was also a professor of higher education. In 1983, he was appointed as president of the University of California and as a professor of higher education at the University of California, Berkeley, where he served until 1992. (Read more)
