Aim and Scope

  1. Facilitate discourse on the theoretical aspects of Islamic law and jurisprudence
  2. Present issues relating to the laws of the Near East and their effects on the people and countries of the region and worldwide
  3. Discuss laws and legal themes as they have affected Near Easterners and Muslims living outside of their respective countries
  4. Promote scholarship in the field between Western, Muslim, and Near Eastern scholars, and
  5. Provide a creative outlet for UCLA students interested in the field through work and publication in JINEL.
