The Multicampus Research Programs and Initiatives (MRPI) program supports innovative multicampus research collaborations that strengthen UC’s position as a leading public research university. The competition is open to members of the UC research community in all fields of research and scholarship.
Funding goals & priorities
Goals of this funding opportunity are to facilitate and support outstanding research and cutting edge discoveries that can:
- Advance research in areas important to UC, California, and its people, environment, and economy
- Increase UC’s competitiveness in attracting faculty, graduate students, awards and honors, and extramural funding
- Support innovative graduate student research at UC
MRPI offers two types of awards: Planning Awards for up to two years of funding to launch novel research collaborations and Program Awards provide up to four years of funding to support new or established research collaborations. Collaborations supported by MRPIs must include at least three UC campuses, or two campuses and a UC-managed national lab.
Multicampus Research Programs and Initiatives is a funding opportunity administered under the auspices of the UC Office of the President. It is offered by UC Research Initiatives (UCRI) in the Research Grants Program Office (RGPO).
