The U.C. Berkeley Center for the Study of Law and Society supports empirical research and theoretical analysis concerning legal institutions and processes, the impact of law on society, and social, political, and intellectual influences on law and legal activity. The Jurisprudence and Social Policy Program is a doctoral program at the U.C. Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall) that promotes the social and philosophical study of law through the perspectives of criminal justice, economics, history, philosophy, political science, psychology and sociology. They each provide a truly interdisciplinary setting in which faculty, visiting scholars, and students can meet, present research, exchange ideas, and formulate new concepts and research agendas.
