University of California, Berkeley Professor Patricia Buffler has led numerous studies investigating the possible relationships between occupational and environmental factors and cancer. A professor of epidemiology at UC Berkeley's School of Public Health, Dean Emerita, and recently appointed as the Kenneth and Marjorie Kaiser Endowed Chair, Patricia Buffler directed research as Principal Investigator of the ChevronTexaco La Habra Facility epidemiologic studies. In addition to her faculty/teaching office, Professor Buffler maintains a large research office in downtown Berkeley. This off-campus facility is primarily responsible for the administration and management of the NIH-funded, Northern California Childhood Leukemia Study (NCCLS), an epidemiological investigation of childhood leukemia in Northern and Central California.
