The mission of the University of California Museum of Paleontology is to investigate and promote the understanding of the history of life and diversity of the Earth's biota through research and education. UCMP is an active center of national and internal research and houses one of the nation's largest collections of fossils and state-of-the-art facilities for the study of these fossils. UCMP provides educational support for undergraduate and graduate programs at UC Berkeley, focusing on the history of life and the diversity of the Earth's biota.
