The International Organization of Citrus Virologists (IOCV) was formed in 1957 during the First International Conference on Citrus Virus Diseases held on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Citrus Experiment Station at Riverside, California. The objectives of IOCV are to promote cooperative international study of citrus diseases caused by viruses and other graft-transmissible and systemic pathogens of citrus and to disseminate knowledge concerning their identity and relationships, effects and importance, means of spread, control, management, and/or prevention.
IOCV encourages personal contacts and the exchange of information by sponsorship of official IOCV Conferences and publication of proceedings of these conferences International Organization of Citrus Virologists Conference Proceedings (1957-2010). The Organization has also sponsored the production of special publications such as the “Graft-transmissible diseases of citrus” and “Safe movement of citrus germplasm” while since 2013 is publishing the Journal of Citrus Pathology an on-line peer reviewed publication.
